Singer Chinmayee Biography

Chinmayi K Sripadaa is an award winning Indian playback singer singing predominantly in Tamil. She made her singing debut in A. R. Rahmans Kannathil Muthamittal and since then has sung songs mostly in Tamil films like Enakku 20 Unakku 18, Boys, Arinthum Ariyamalum and Sandakozhi. Her most recent songs to date is from the recently released Hindi album, Guru, Veyil, Sivaji, Bheema and Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa etc.

She also presented the first season of Super Singer on STAR Vijay that was aired between April and August 2006, the first season of Airtel Super Singer Junior February 2007 - July 2007 and the second season of Airtel Super Singer 2008. She does not continue to host the show until the completion of the season. She was also a radio presenter on Aahaa FM 91.9 in Chennai, on a breakfast show titled Aahaa Kaapi Klub, on air Monday to Saturday between 7 to 10 AM. She has dubbed for several movies, Sillunu Oru Kaadhal (for Bhumika Chawla), Unnale Unnale (for Tanisha Mukherjee), Satham Podathey (for Padmapriya), Dhaam Dhoom (for Kangana Ranaut), Jeyam Kondaan (for Lekha Washington), Sakkarakatti (for Vedhika), Vaaranam Aayiram (for Sameera Reddy) and Ye Maaya Chesave for Samantha Ruth Prabhu.

She inherited her talent in singing from her mother who also has been her Guru, Mrs.T.Padmasani. She also maintains her own blog. Her songs and pictures can be found on additional blogs that are linked from the main one. She has recently lent her voice to the song Ennadhuyire for Bheema. Recent songs are in the movies Rameshwaram, Mirugam, Thozha, Nenjathai Killathey, Satrumun kadaitha Thagaval, Thotta, Inbaa in Tamil and Gange Bare Tunge Bare,Inthi Ninna Preethiya, Hani Hani in Kannada.

Her first film song, the title song in Kannathil Muthamittal took the industry by storm. It was a dream debut - a brilliant composition by A. R. Rahman and superbly picturised by Mani Ratnam and well enacted by Simran and Keerthana.She also made her mark in bollywood songs with the Tere Bina and Mayya Mayya tracks from the movie Guru. She has sung a many more numbers for A. R. Rahman besides other leading music directors.Recently, she has started to host a new show called Sangeetha Maha Yuddham in Sun TV and Hindi reality music talent show Chhote Ustaad in STAR PLUS (2010).

Chinmayi went for the Childrens garden school till her age of 10. Then,she pursued her secondary education in Hindu Senior Secondary School in Indira nagar which is located in Adyar in Chennai.She did her higher secondary education in home modules. This home module study gave her ample time to concentrate on various other fields, which was a new experience for a student of her age in that city.She learnt German as a language in the Max mueller Bhavan in Chennai. She got certification courses from NIIT and SSI in Webdesigning. She worked as a translator for a few companies at that time.She speaks Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, English, French and German.

During her school life,she worked for more than ten months with Sify. She graduated from Madras University with a bachelors in Psychology.
