சண்டமாருதம் தமிழ் விமர்சனம்
நீண்ட இடைவெளிக்குப் பிறகு சரத்குமார் இரண்டு வேடத்தில் நடித்திருக்கிறார். குறிப்பாக வில்லனாக வரும் சரத்குமார், சர்வேஸ்வரன் கதாபாத்திரத்திற்கு கச்சிதமாக பொருந்திருக்கிறார். இவருடைய வில்லத்தனத்தால் ரசிகர்களை மிரட்டியிருக்கிறார். ஆக்ஷன் காட்சிகளில் அவருக்கே உரிய பாணியில் அனைவரையும் ரசிக்க வைத்திருக்கிறார். போலீஸ் அதிகாரியாக சர்வேஸ்வரனை என்கவுண்டர் செய்ய முயற்சிக்கும் இவரது நடிப்பு அருமை. தம்பிராமையாவுடன் இணைந்து அடிக்கும் லூட்டிகள் ரசிக்கும் படியாக உள்ளது.
முறைப்பெண்ணாக வரும் மீராநந்தன், குடும்ப பெண்ணாக மனதில் நிற்கிறார். சரத்குமார் ஆக்ஷனில் ஆர்வத்தோடு இருப்பதால் ரொமன்ஸ் செய்ய வாய்ப்புகள் குறைவாகவே அமைத்திருக்கிறது. போலீசாக வரும் ஓவியா கவர்ச்சியில் தாராளம் காண்பித்திருக்கிறார்.
இயக்குனர் ஏ.வெங்கடேஷ் தன்னுடைய வழக்கமான பாணியையே இப்படத்தில் கையாண்டிருக்கிறார். நகைச்சுவை கலந்த ஆக்ஷன் படமாக ரசிகர்களுக்கு விருந்து படைத்திருக்கிறார். சரத்குமாருக்கு இரண்டு வேடங்களை கச்சிதமாக பொருந்தும் அளவிற்கு கதாபாத்திரத்தை அமைத்திருக்கிறார். குறிப்பாக இப்படத்தில் வில்லன் கதாபாத்திரத்திற்கு அதிக முக்கியத்துவம் கொடுத்து உருவாக்கியிருக்கிறார்.
Sarathkumars Negative Role
After stamping himself as a hero for more than two decades, Sarathkumar has decided to cast himself in a negative role, and the result is quite positive. Sandamarutham is all about how an undercover cop goes on to find the grass roots of an underworld Don, who is a major threat to the entire country. Like the plot, the screenplay, comedy, dialogues, and all other departments offers nothing new.

Sarveswaran (Sarath Kumar) is the kind of criminal who is 80 steps ahead of his pursuers, as he himself puts it. The cops in his base, Kumbakonam, fear him, and thus, he has managed to develop a highly potent chemical that can cause destruction beyond belief. He is planning to sell this to interested terrorists, who plan to use it in 101 cities on Diwali. Meanwhile, Thirumalai (Samuthirakani), the new inspector to the place, tries to catch him but Sarveswaran proves too good for him. However, Thirumalais friend Surya (Sarath Kumar), an undercover police officer, decides to take him on and put an end to his menace.
