Amar B, better known by his stage name Jiiva, is an Indian film actor, who has predominantly appeared in Tamil-language films. Son of film producer R. B. Choudhary, he started his career as a child actor in his father’s films in 1996. His professional career began seven years later with the film Aasai Aasaiyai. He has performed in the films Raam, for which he won the Best Actor Award at the Cyprus International Film Festival. E and Kattradhu Thamizh.
Jiiva started his career as a child actor in two of his fathers productions. His debut film as a lead was Aasai Aasaiyai. The films Thittikudhey and Raam followed. Raam was screened at Indian Panorama and later at the Cyprus International Film Festival, where it won two awards—the Best Actor award for Jiiva and the Best Musical Score Award for its music director, Yuvan Shankar Raja.
Later on Jiiva appeared in Aran where he played an Indian army soldier. He made his debut in Malayalam cinema with Keerthi Chakra, the original version of Aran. In 2006 he starred in E and in 2007 Kattradhu Thamizh.His latest releases are Thenavattu and Siva Manasula Sakthi. The former is an action film while the latter is a romantic film.
Jiiva was born to film producer R. B. Choudhary and Mahjabeen, Tamil Nadu as the youngest of four sons. His eldest brother B. Suresh is the co-producer in their home banner Super Good Films, second comes Jeevan, an entrepreneur in the steel industry. His third brother is Githan Ramesh, who is also an actor in the Tamil film industry. On 21 November 2007, Jeeva married his childhood friend Supriya in New Delhi.
