Bambukat is a simplistic film set in the 1960s, which contrasts the heartiness in simple living, despite lack of comforts and the aspiration towards attaining social status by way of material wealth. Channan (Ammy Virk) is in love with Simi Chahal (Pakko), who he takes for rides along the countryside on his bicycle, which he loves most, as much as he loves her. But when Binnu Dhillon appears with a new motorcycle flaunting his richness and social status, the simple villagers begin to swarm around him drawn by his material wealth. This leaves Ammy Virk in tatters, as he feels slighted by his lack of material wealth. So, he sets off to find material wealth, social status and aspires to buy a motorcycle himself to match the new found social expectations of the people. Whether or not he does or what lessons he learns makes the rest of the story.
