Bairavaa Critic Reviews

Story Lacks Any Real Cohesion

3.0/5

The movie has no structure. Director has clearly sticked to VIJAY TEMPLATE BASICS. An intro where camera pans on bicycle tyre, shoes, eyes, lips and then he flies in air.... uufff! In which period we live in? Wake up Vijay! We all know you are the lead hero in Bairavaa. Thats why we entered the theatre. We are not going to see Vijay Sethupathi instead of you. Then we have an a silly action scene with Cricket bat and then an intro song with meaningless lyrics. Santosh Narayanan has decided the theme music Varalaam Varalaam vaa alone is enough and he has just over slept during rest of the songs composition. Or he must have thought, this crap script deserves such crap tunes. Action scenes are absurd and nonsensical. If you dont trust us, watch the fight scene with Daniel Balaji where there is no Varalaam vaa Background.

Bairavaa - A Mass Entertainer

2.5/5

Bairavaa seems to be a mass entertainer with all fun-filled elements. Sources from the industry suggest that a confident Vijay has watched Bairavaa with his team, and is pleased with the output. It is for the first time that Vijay will be seen opposite Keerthy Suresh and it will be interesting to see their on-screen chemistry.
Bairavaa deals with the corrupt medical education system in India. The movie tries to expose how institutions fleece students and how that has affected the entire system. Jagapathi Babu plays a corrupt politician, the antagonist in the film.

Message Oriented Film

4.0/5

All the fight scenes were handled very neatly and Vijays body language is apt for every scenes. Bharathan has written good heart tocuhing and also good punch dialogues for the movie.M Sukumar who handled the cinematography and Praveen KL who edited Bairavaa has done a good job. Music composed by Santhosh Narayanan and the BGM of the movie were superb.Overall the movie is a powerpacked item entertainer of Actor Ilayathalapathy Vijay. Fans can enjoy the movie till the end and all others expect a good watch in this weekend.

Vijay's Screen Presence Could Not Save A Middling - Behindwoods

2.5/5

The film travels 20 minutes without Vijay during the flashback portion, a rarity in his films. A gutsy move by the team! Though the flashback is predictable and passable, it helps to create tension and also gives good build up to the villain. The film takes time to settle down, but once it gets going you get a partially satisfactory ride till the mid-point. Pre-climax fight happens to be one of the high points of the film. Post mid way mark, the film resorts to an over beaten screenplay pattern. A couple of impressive scenes here and there keep you alert. It falls flat towards the end and does not excite you.

Keerthy Suresh, as Vijays love interest, plays a good natured and gleeful girl next door. It is nice to see the actress establishing a style for herself in such a short span. She has a peculiar set of expressions which works quite well for the character. She has tried her hands on the Nellai dialect but it isnt consistent. Jagapathi Babu, Daniel Balaji and Thambi Ramaiah bring their experience on to the table. Sathish could not manage to evoke laughter like his previous films.

Bairavaa – Nothing Special

2.5/5

Bairavaa starts off very slowly, with forced comedy scenes and a good Cricket based fight scene. Vijays charm and dashing screen presence require a special mention, though the wig used for Vijay is unconvincing. Keerthy Suresh and Vijay romance portions were average, and songs were forced. Fight sequences have saved the film in major part combined with the electrifying BGM from Santhosh Narayanan. The first half was average and took a high point at the interval.

Fan moments were very less and fans were eagerly waiting for the second half to witness some mass scenes but they were disappointed at the end. The second half is draggy and the social message conveyed was only the savior. The film looks kind of a film in early 2000s and very outdated. The Fight sequences were well choreographed in the second half also.

Daniel Balajis performance was too good, he had shown variations in many areas. Keerthy Suresh has also done a good job, emoting well and looking thara local in dance steps. Thambi Ramaya comedies were good but was limited. Sathishs comedy didnt work for most parts. Vijay, as usual, holds the film at many parts.
